Located in Devetaki, the Devetashka Cave is located at the distance of 15km from the town of Lovech. The cave is situated along the shoreline of Osam River. With the length of 2.5km and height of 35m at the entrance, the Devetashka Cave is one of the biggest and most impressive caves in Bulgaria.
The Devetashka Cave was discovered in 1921 and was used as an oil depot for several years especially in the 1950’s. According to the archaeologists the cave was inhabited for the first time in Paleolithic era and was kept in use throughout the following centuries until the Middles Ages.

There are signs from the Neolithic era in the cave as well. Due to its historical significance the sight of the cave has been declared as a cultural heritage of the country and has been opened for tourists.
The Devetashka Cave is quite beautiful inside. The sun peeks through the holes in the ceilings and walls and lights up the interior of the cave. The interior is cool and you can feel calm and relaxed once you are inside the cave.
