The Garden of Fugitives was the name given to the place where 13 people of the Pompeii city tried to escape and were trapped in lava. The bodies of the people decayed inside the hardened ash plaster leaving hollow sculptures. These were filled with plaster and displayed in public.
Despite being the living example of the horrors of natural disasters that can destroy whole civilizations, Pompeii gets a lot of visitors every year.
